Cho Oyu is the 6th highest mountain in the world and is often considered as the easiest 8,000m mountain to climb due to the absence of real technical difficulty. The name Cho Oyu means Turquoise Goddess in Tibetan. There are turquoise mines in the region and you will notice turquoise hearings worn by local porters on Cho Oyu.

If you want to discover the world of 8,000m, Cho Oyu is a very good first summit. However, let’s not forget that, at this altitude, there is no easy mountain

Our expedition will take the normal route through the North West ridge situated in China. Cho Oyu like Everest shares a common border between Nepal and China. This summit is the opportunity to go across the high plateau of the Tibetan region, so different from the deep valleys in Nepal. It is very interesting to see how the landscape can be so different from one side of the Himalayas to the other.

We have decided to climb Cho Oyu in the spring season because, in the past few years, the autumn season was not good for climbing with monsoon late snow falls leading to avalanche risks and, consequently, expeditions were cancelled. We believe that the spring season will be more stable in this respect.
