Langtang Gosainkunda Helambu



Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu trek, a perfect package to rally up with the high mountain lakes at Gosainkunda and the beautiful Helambu Valley. This trip combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang, with the high mountain lakes at Gosainkunda and the beautiful Helambu Valley. Trail of Langtang valley trek is in the most unspoiled national parks of Nepal, which is perhaps why there is such a high appeal of this trekking route.  Situated at North of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border, it is the most easily accessible highland sanctuary from the capital. This remote Langtang valley is enclosed by snow-capped mountains which culminate in the peak of Langtang Lirung (7246m). Trekking starts from the lower Langtang Valley which takes you through forests and among the villages and farmlands of many who are of Tibetan origin. The deep gorges of Bhote Koshi and Langtang Khola are thickly forested with rhododendron, oak, maple and alder. The stretch of forest around Ghoda Tabela in the lower Langtang Valley and below Gosainkunda is inhabited by the red panda. As you make your way through the Langtang, there is a high possibility of seeing many interesting wildlife including red panda. 

Once above the Langtang village, visitors can explore the high valley of Langshisa, Yala peak and Tsero, Ri. These and other villages of upper Langtang are inhabited by people of Tibetan descent whereas the villagers of Dhunche, Bharkhu and Syabru.  Further down are home to the Tamangs of Nepal's middle hills, who inhabit the area and continue to practice their local religion of Buddhism and to earn their livelihood herding yak and sheep.


Day 1- Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1345meters). 

There you will be met by our airport representative and transferred to hotel by private tourist vehicle. Overnight at hotel.


Day 2- Kathmandu

Adjust yourself with Jet Lag, last minute arrangements, guided Kathmandu city tour. Overnight at hotel


Day 3- Drive to Sybru Bensi (1462meters) by bus. 8 hours.

From Kathmandu, we take seven to eight hour drive to Syabru Besi. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 4- Trek to Lama Hotel (2500meters) 5 hours.

Today, the first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang river. This trail gradually ascents up to Bamboo passing through landslide. Afterwards, your trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400meters) through Bamboo (1960meters) which lies at the bank of Langtang river. You can have lunch at this place if you like and at the end your trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En route, if you are lucky, you could see red pandas, monkeys and bears. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 5- Trek to Langtang Village (3307meters) 5 hours.

From lama hotel, we continue gently ascending above the Langtang river. As the trail progresses, it becomes steeper. From time and again we can have the most exotic sights of Langtang Lirung lying at 7246 meters. The trail leads to a log bridge and on climbing further we come across lush meadows of Ghora Tabela at 2992m. Further on, the route opens up into a wide valley of yak pastures and scattered Tamang villages showcasing water-driven mills and prayer wheels. On descending for a while, we arrive at Langtang village after crossing a stream and reaching to the height 3307 meters. Langtang village is the headquarters for Langtang National Park and has flat-roofed Tibetan style houses, hotels and cultivated lands yielding buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips, barley etc. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 6- Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3798meters) 3 hours.
The trail skirts gradually through rich yak pastures and interesting traditional villages of Muna to Singdun. We cross a wooden cantilever bridge and reach a wide valley after climbing a moraine. Finally, on ascending along the mountain passes we arrive at Kyagjin Gompa. There is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 7- Day tour to Tserko Ri (4990meters) 6 hours

We would go for a day trip to Tserko Ri. It would be around 5-6 hours hike and we would go there with our packed lunch. Upon arrival you would witness splendid Himalayan views. It is a bit challenging climb offering some of the most spectacular Himalayan views and the mountain passes. Alternatively, depending on your condition, you could hike Kyanjin Ri (4773meters); approximately 3 hours. Overnight at gueshouse at Kyanjin Gompa.


Day 8- Trek to Lama Hotel (2500meters) 6 hours.

We take a route back to Lama Hotel following trail of we retrace our route, following the Langtang river to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. We stop briefly for lunch and thereafter continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 9- Trek to Thulo Sybru (2250meters) 5 hours.
The beginning of the trail gently descents to the Landslide which then goes steeply up to Thulo Syabru. En route, if you are lucky, you could see red pandas, monkeys and various species of birds. Thulo Syabru is a wonderful village. From where you can enjoy the amazing land feature and the magnificent nature with splendid views of Ganesh Himal (7110meters), Langtang Himal and its ranges. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 10- Trek to Singompa (3250meters) 4.5 hours.
The trails from Thulo Syabru to Foprang Danda (3200meters) follows a steep ascent path passing through Grave Hill (Dursagang / Chihan Dadaa) (2660meters) along with the views of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Mountain, Hemlock and forests. Now the path gently ascends for a while then it follows a flat level to Sing Gompa. There is a well managed local cheese factory and a Buddhist Monastery. Singgompa provides panoramic views, exhilarating nature and Nak Cheese factory. The cheese manufactured here is considered the best in Nepal; we recommend you to taste it. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 11- Trek to Gosaikund (4300meters) 5 hours.
The first part of the trail emerges and we steadily climb up to Lauribina and the top of Lauribina gives you an exotic feeling. With a steep ascent all the way to Gosaikunda. You follow a rugged trail with dramatic views to the Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north also across the valley is Langtang Lirung. You pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebina, cross a small ridge and have your first views of the holy lake of Gosaikunda. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda and Gosainkunda. According to the legend Gosainkunda was created by lord Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 12- Cross over the Gosaikunda pass (4610meters) then trek to Ghopte (3430meters) 7 hours.
The trail leaves Gosaikunda and climbs through rugged country, past four small lakes to the Laurebina La (4610meters), the highest point of this trek. Keep looking back at the spectacular views of Manaslu and the mountains of the Ganesh Himal, as well as the Langtang Lirung. You then descend steeply to Ghopte. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day13- Trek to Kutumsang (2470meters). 6 hours. Overnight at guesthouse.
Today you see path until Tharepati and after you reach in Tharepati more downhill with only one small ridge to cross en route. Stop at Kutumsang an interesting typically old-fashioned Sherpa village.Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 14- Trek to Chisapani (2215meters). 5.30 Hours.
A shorter day but with two descends and climbs to Chisapani {literla meaning cold water in Nepali} where the view of the whole central Himalayas is breathtaking, that will be reflective in the evening and early morning. Overnight at guesthouse.


Day 15- Trek to Sundarijal and drive to Kathmandu (1350 meters). 4hours.
More super views today while descending to the road through oak and rhododendron forests, with some pine a lower altitude. Continuing on down towards Sundarijal you will intersect a road and waterworks project, which supplies much of Kathmandu 's drinking water. Where the road becomes passable vehicle and takes back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.


Day 16-  Departure

Transfer to international airport for your final departure.
