The Tamang Heritage Trail is both a superb introduction to Trekking in Nepal and a cultural adventure amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole country, with rich Tamang culture, amazing natural scenery and awesome mountain vistas.
Developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program (TRPAP) under the UNDP fund, the Tamang Heritage Trail is a newly developed trekking destination which was developed to distribute equal tourism opportunities among the poor rural communities living in the Rasuwa region. The region has the feel of little Tibet and trekkers who have gone there claim it is like trekking in Langtang 20 years ago. Since its development the revenue and other income generated by the tourism activities in this region contributed directly to the local communities supporting the local livelihood, women’s empowerment and environmental conservations.
The trek initially starts from Kathmandu from where a 132km stretch of road leads us to Syabru Bensi by either local bus or private car. From Syafru Bensi the route passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Chilime, Tatopani, Rasuwagadi and Briddim whilst ending back again in Syabru Bensi or Dunche.
